About

Team Durmacs have created this page because we want to make a difference. We are inspired by the work of Walk the Walk. Our team captain, completed the full moon 2006 and 2007 in memory of her gran and 2 great aunts who sadly passed away to breast cancer.  Unfortunately, devasatation hit the family in 2018 when 4 members of the family were diagnosed with breast cancer between March and November 2018.  Team captain, Barbara-Ann, her sister Sarah-Jane and Aunty Audrey were  diagnosed with breast cancer within an 8 month period. A very difficult time for their families with them all having young family themselves. They underwent double mastectomies and chemotherapy. Sarah-Jane became very poorly during later courses of chemotherapy which resulted in her being admitted to intensive care for respiratory failure. She had to learn to walk again and is here to share her story. There are 3 survivors walking in the team.  Team captain, Barbara-Ann was keen to do the walk again and wanted to enter a team as she knows you are always stronger together. She wanted to raise as much awareness and money for something very close to their family and friend's hearts. As a team of 12 we are the ultimate walking warriors and will wear our fantastic decorated bras with pride!  We also have 3 family members volunteering on the night. We wanted to support the Moonwalk by raising money through our own challenge. Please help us help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Donate' button. The more people that know about Walk the Walk, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family.

Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
