About

Thanks for taking the time to visit our page.

We are walking 26.2 miles in memory of our much loved mum and nan, Margaret Sanderson who fought cancer for over 20 years with courage, bravery and a big smile on her face!

Our team consists of Tracey Wright, a newbie to the world of Moonwalk, Georgia Sanderson who is 14 and rarely walks more than 3000 steps in a day and Amanda Sanderson who despite this being her 3rd moonwalk is still under physio care for Bone Stress... Every step and ache we endure we will do it with a smile on our face and remember every hurdle mum/nan overcame to make sure we had her in our lives for as long as she possibly could.

Our journey with cancer started in 2000, when mum was diagnosed with breast cancer after her first routine mammogram (please don't put off having these checks, ladies). She was so positive and a true inspiration with us, she never felt sorry for herself and put up a very brave fight. After a lumpectomy, chemo and radiotheraphy she was giving the all clear and life got back to normal. It was 7yrs later after becoming a nanna to 4 grandchildren that the cancer returned and again the fight was on; a fight that thankfully she won.

2017 she delivered the devasting news that the cancer had returned and this fight was going to be that much harder as it was now secondary breast cancer of the lung and the liver and it couldnt be removed. Mum endured more and more treatment to prevent the cancer from spreading, and kept up the fight. In July her quality of life was being affected and it was decided that the treatment would stop. She kept up her fight until 13th October when she passed away at home with her family around her.

Words to describe mum include;

"An inspirational example in fight against cancer", "Hell of a fighter", "Strength and fortitude in fighting this dreadful disease and fighting for so long", "Always looked to the positive and was unstinting in her support for others suffering with wretched disease".

We are heartbroken that she's no longer with us and she is missed every day, but she left us with so many wonderful memories that we will be forever thankful for. With every step (and there will be around 55,000 of them) that we take we will think of her and know she is watching over us and cheering us on.

Thank you for reading our story!
